My Story

Welcome, friends! My name is Cayman, and I am the visionary and baker behind Flourish Orlando. I grew up in Oviedo, Fl, spent six years in Nashville, and decided to come back to Oviedo.

Growing up, I was lucky enough to live in the same town as my grandparents. For as long as I can remember, I always loved being in the kitchen with my grandma. She would push a stool up to the counter, tie my apron around my waist, and I would “help” her bake. She taught me everything I know about being in the kitchen. And I loved every second of it.

As I got older and I was trying to figure out what I wanted to “be” when I grew up (does anyone actually know??), I thought of baking as just a hobby. I wasn’t convinced that being a baker could be a full-time career. I worked in multiple bakeries throughout college because that was what I knew how to do, and it brought me so much joy! (Don’t get me wrong, the early wake-up calls are still difficult and are not always joyful.) After graduating from Florida State- go noles!- with a degree in Family and Child Sciences, I started an internship with YoungLife in the middle of nowhere, Oregon. It was a year full of PNW adventures and a year I will never forget, but I continued to have the desire to be back in a bakery.

In January of 2018 I packed up my Corolla and headed back east to take a night-shift bakery position in Nashville, TN. I had no idea the ups and downs that Nashville would hold. It was in Music City that, as clique as it sounds, I rediscovered my passion for baking and had my eyes opened to the realization that I could make it my full-time career. I worked in three different bakeries while in Nashville- Five Daughter’s, Baked on 8th, and The Butter Milk Ranch. Each one taught me new skills and helped me become the baker I am today!

Flourish not too long ago was just a dream that I am now turning into a reality. The name came to me after I moved back to Oviedo, because I want to grow and thrive in this city.

Thank you for taking the time to read how it all got started! I’m so glad you’re here to be a part of this journey.
